CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY

At the International Pause Institute, we are committed to providing a respectful, compassionate, and professional environment that supports healing, empowerment, and transformation for all individuals. This Code of Conduct applies to staff, contractors, patients, and visitors.


SECTION I: STAFF CODE OF CONDUCT

All staff, including clinicians, administrative personnel, and contractors, are expected to uphold the following standards:

1. Professionalism & Excellence

Maintain high standards of clinical care, ethics, and confidentiality.

Present professionally in appearance and communication.

Arrive on time, prepared, and focused during all patient interactions.

2. Respect & Inclusion

Treat all patients, team members, and guests with dignity and respect.

Create a safe and inclusive environment for individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs.

Avoid discriminatory, offensive, or inappropriate comments or behavior.

3. Confidentiality & Privacy

Protect patient information in accordance with HIPAA and company policy.

Discuss patient cases only in private, professional contexts as needed for care.

4. Integrity & Ethics

Provide honest, evidence-informed care.

Avoid conflicts of interest or dual relationships that could impair objectivity.

Report misconduct or safety concerns immediately.

5. Wellness & Boundaries

Maintain appropriate boundaries with patients and colleagues.

Prioritize self-care and seek support when needed to prevent burnout or compassion fatigue.


SECTION II: PATIENT CODE OF CONDUCT

The International Pause Institute is a healing-centered environment. To maintain safety, respect, and integrity, we ask all patients to agree to the following:

1. Respectful Communication

Speak to all staff and other patients with courtesy and professionalism.

Avoid language or behavior that is aggressive, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory.

2. Appropriate Behavior

Maintain physical and emotional boundaries with staff and other clients.

Refrain from inappropriate comments or conduct of a sexual, political, or offensive nature.

3. Punctuality & Participation

Arrive on time for appointments or provide adequate notice for rescheduling.

Actively participate in your care plan and communicate any concerns respectfully.

4. Substance Use & Safety

Do not arrive under the influence of drugs or alcohol (unless medically prescribed).

Follow all safety protocols and treatment guidelines provided by staff.

5. Confidentiality in Group Settings

Respect the privacy of others in group programs or shared spaces.

Do not record or share identifying information about fellow participants.


VIOLATIONS & ENFORCEMENT

Violations of this Code of Conduct—by either staff or patients—may result in:

Verbal or written warnings

Temporary suspension from services or workplace duties

Termination of employment or discontinuation of care

Reporting to appropriate authorities (if legal or safety issues are involved)

The International Pause Institute reserves the right to refuse service or terminate the provider-client relationship if conduct is found to be unsafe, abusive, or in conflict with our values.


ACKNOWLEDGMENT

All patients and team members are required to review and agree to this Code of Conduct upon onboarding. Continued participation indicates agreement to uphold these standards.
